I started this journey about 13 years ago. After leaving Corporate America, my husband and I decided we wanted to start a family. With the birth of my first son, I discovered he had special needs I would need to tend to daily. I prayed for a way to help support my family with my lil by my side and God blessed me with a booming photography business just 5 months after that prayer.
I’ve had the pleasure of telling the stories of numerous newborns, newly weds, high-school seniors, and many families. I’ve traveled all over the map to accommodate my clients and have loved every minute. I was commissioned for a national magazine, Farm and Ranch, and published that same year. While in Atlanta, I served as Photography Director for a local magazine, The Bartow Buzz.
I’ve taught Photography inpublic schools in Colorado, cultural art centers and colleges in Georgia and have mentored others in various places. Teaching my craft is nearly as much fun as creating the art itself. One of my mentors once told me, “There’s room for all of us photographers…we just need to help and support each other.” It stuck with me and I firmly believe in nurturing the growth of other shutter-bugs. It’s not a competition. It’s a journey with other artists toward a destination of celebrating the unique life stories and experiences that we all have in common.
Meanwhile…owning a Photography business demands you become a web-designer, editor, graphic designer, marketer and accountant. So, with the downturn of the economy in 2007, I added a new dimension to my business and began offering Digital Marketing Services. I started with my church and it’s website and marketing. Soon, I’d expanded to several local businesses and non-profits. Now, my time is split 50/50 between the two distinct but complimentary facets of my company. I simply adore that I am able to support my family by using the creativity given to me by my Creator.
